Llyn Dyrnogydd is a little-known lake just a 20 minute walk from the A470 north of Blaenau Ffestiniog. The far-western end of the lake lies directly above the Blaenau Ffestinog railway tunnel. Parking is at a convenient layby on the A470 at Grid Reference : SH702489. Directions : A public footpath begins about 300 yards south of the layby, and follows the route of a former tramway around the side of the mountain. Directly opposite the car park, a small stream cascades over some rocks and passes under a short walled section of the tramway. Follow this stream up and to the left towards a shallow valley which leads to the lake.
