Hele Bay is a beach of greyish sand and small pebbles with cliffs of Ilfracombe slate to either side. A substantial stream emerges from a culvert and flows down the beach. The beach lies just 300 yards from the A399 east of Ilfracombe and facilities include a cafe / ice-cream shop, outdoor seating, toilets ♿ and a Spar store (on the A399). A P&D car park is just behind the beach, and some free parking with picnic area can be found approximately 500 yards up the hill to the east. Access is down a slipway and dogs are allowed at all times.
