Watermouth is a long inlet of sand and some mud, and is more of a harbour than a beach. A private P&D car park lies behind the shore, and access is down a slipway. The only facility is the Boat Cafe just behind the shore. A (dead end) public footpath leads along the east side of the shore to the Round Tower, whilst the small sandy cove of Widmouth Beach lies on the west side of the inlet. A sign alongside the coast path on this side claims it to be a private beach for residents of a local hotel. Dogs are allowed at all times.
Note that Giant Hogweed grows in this area, so be sure you know what it looks like, especially if you have children with you.
